Course Description: Well, they provided us with a sophisticated system of agriculture, developed trade internally and externally, created a money economy, particularly in the south, created roads that were well up to Roman standards, built towns with up to 16,000 inhabitants, provided craft skills that were the equal of any and, finally, had an enlightened view of the role of women and their property rights. The day course will look at (1) Links with past and present: a review of the Iron Age and its impact on us. (2) The Archaeology of Ancient Britain and what it tells us of the tribes who lived here.
