The Danbury and Little Baddow Literature Group is delighted to welcome Amanda Adams, Preparatory Librarian at New Hall School, to speak about her role as a judge for the Carnegie Medal for Writing.
The Carnegie Medal for Writing, established in 1936, is an annual British literary award for English-language books for children or young adults. As the UK’s oldest and most prestigious book award for children’s writing, it celebrates exceptional storytelling and illustration in literature for young readers. Amanda is presently involved in judging submissions for the 2026-2027 award.
The talk will be of interest to all those with a love of reading, evoking a nostalgia for favourite childhood books, offering an opportunity to deepen our understanding of how children’s and young adult literature mirrors the evolving social and cultural values of its time, and expanding our ability to recommend exceptional literature to the young readers in our lives.
Fee £7 payable at class – Everyone is welcome!
